What does it look like when the next generation doesn’t just attend Church, but begins leading it?
At our recent Breakthrough Worship & Prayer Night, our church family saw that vision coming to life. Students led worship, shared powerful stories of how Jesus is changing their lives, and celebrated as 13 students from Students Camp took the next step of baptism. It was a glimpse of what we have been praying for throughout Breakthrough: God raising up the strongest generation of Jesus followers.
A Summer of Life Change
This summer, nearly 600 students and leaders attended Students Camp—the largest student camp in Connection Pointe history. Throughout the week, students encountered Jesus, surrendered areas of their lives to Him, discovered new purpose, and took significant steps in their faith.
At Breakthrough Night, we heard some of those stories firsthand.Josh came to camp because his friends invited him, unsure of what he believed or whether he even belonged there. As the week went on, God began working in his heart until one night during worship, Josh knew he was ready. “I knew it was time, and I truly gave my life to Jesus.” He returned home knowing following Jesus wouldn’t make every struggle disappear, but he would never have to face those struggles alone.
Surrendering What Comes Next
Kenzie came to camp asking God what she was supposed to do with her life. But as the week unfolded, she realized she was asking God for direction while still trying to remain in control. God began teaching her to surrender her plans and trust Him with what came next. “I was not fully surrendered, and now I am trusting God and letting go.”
By the end of camp, Kenzie also felt God calling her into ministry. Her encouragement to others was simple: “Stop trying to take the pen from the Author and trust Him to write your story.”
I Was… Now I Am…
These stories were just a few examples of what God did at camp. The theme was I’m Different—a reminder that an encounter with Jesus doesn’t leave us where He found us. Students were invited to describe their transformation with two statements:
I was…
Now I am…
Broken became whole. Lost became found. Stuck became free. Lives were changed, purpose was discovered, and students returned home different because of Jesus. At Breakthrough Night, they held signs sharing those stories with our entire church family.
This Is Breakthrough
One of our visions for Breakthrough is to Raise the Strongest Generation by helping kids, students, and young adults know Jesus, follow Him boldly, and become spiritual leaders who carry the Gospel forward. On this night, we didn’t have to imagine what that could look like. We saw students leading worship. We heard them boldly sharing their faith. We watched them surrender their futures to God. And we celebrated as they took their next steps with Jesus.
The next generation isn’t simply the future of the Church. God is using them right now. This is why we continue to pray, invest, and believe for more.
Breakthrough is happening—and the next generation is helping lead the way.
